NATIONAL LEAGUE – 22ND OCTOBER 2022

Form is something team’s endeavour to achieve as the season progresses it can come though perseverance, or just plain luck. Probably both these sides could mention ‘form’ as they robbed or have been robbed points so far, this campaign. Survival is the name of the game for these part-timers, so here we go.

Crowd 1416, wait to see what is on offer, and to be honest not a bad game was provided. Dorking ringing many changes again, injuries and positional as they try to find a solution to me what appears their own downfall – more passes than Rudolph Valentino!! The visitors start with a good ol 4-4-2, solid sensible and get it to the forwards.

The game was alive after 56 sec’s McManus cross McShane over.8min’s McShane scissor kick but straight into the arms of keeper Howes.10 min’s Harris booked -slowing the keeper’s distribution down .12 mins Wealdstone forward Olomola fortunate with the bounce but was shut down before any damage was done. Wealdstone’s Oberio had a chance to square the ball but decided to shoot-no zip no danger.22 min’s Oberio trickery backfired and was shut down quickly, Bowerman thread the ball into space Seager pursued and the 1st attempt was blocked by keeper Howes, only to see the follow up hit the net 1-0 Dorking, Seager the scorer. Wealdstone must have wondered what the Surrey country walks were about, as they managed to have two goals disallowed by the same player Allarakhia-both offside-even ‘eye’ had to wipe my glasses. The same player then whipped a great ball across goal on 32 mins no takers!! In-between all the action Dorking picked up two further booking’s Gallagher & McShane. On 38 mins Wealdstone’s McGregor had his own open space but hit the shot wide – it’s good to talk fellas!! H/T DORKING 1 WEALDSTONE 0

Half time summary, Wealdstone have forwards who look to play people in, maybe a lack of pace is a stumbling block, Dorking look to pass and pass and pass, STILL ALL THE TIME YOU HAVE IT THE OTHER TEAM DONT.

Second Half

Mcshane off Ottaway on- visitors break on 47 minutes but a tame cross. Ball goes back into Allarakhia who causes problems, and a corner is awarded. This gentleman has not finished as on 50 mins, he is in his car again goes through the gears, steers around two defenders and delivers the ball into keeper Lincoln’s left-hand post. Score Dorking 1 Wealdstone 1. 55 mins Muitt attacks down Dorking’s right flank and defender Mumdle-Smith backs off, but the delivery lofted too high.57 mins and Ottaway (looking lively) sets up Gallagher but the shot blocked by Cook. On the hour Wealdstone apply some pressure and Cook stoops low for a goal bound header but it finds the outstretched arms of Lincoln. Then changes from both sides Wheeler on for Muitt ,and Wealdstone new signing Matthews on for Olamola. Now all we ‘ALL KNOW THIS DONT WE ‘ play to the whistle but up go the arms, eyes go on the linesman, (who is not watching the game you think) and Ottaway finishes keepers left hand post 2-1 Dorking.75 mins new man Matthews fires a great effort, just wide but that’s enough as far as Dorking are concerned, as they begin to back off, this allows Obiero to force Lincoln to make a point blank save. Kennedy replaces Harris, Wealdstone’s McGregor makes way for Akinola. Things can only get better, and we’re not complaining about the effort from both teams.85 and McManus has a chance to put the game to bed,86 mins and corner for Wealdstone but no advantage taken, the ball ended towards the half-way line, a tussle that doesn’t favour Cook, the ball played down the line crossed by Bowerman and Seager hits the roof to make it- Dorking Wanderers 3 Wealdstone 1

Chances have to be taken, not quite a robbery but the visitors could have pinched it
