Selfish I know but getting ready for my Elvis night, the atmosphere at the Meadowbank has got my “temperature rising and juke box blowing a fuse ” both teams capable of good football ,defensively a little questionable we shall see . My viewing perch/seat was alongside the Hayes & Yeading hierarchy -calm and reasonable manner I’m led to believe !! We are off, ref Whaley allows the players a little freedom in the proceedings but as you’d expect liberties ,will start to take place. On 3mins Dorkings “Briggs” shows a glimpse of what he can offer leaving the the visitors ‘All shook up’ as the shot fire’s just wide .Hayes & Yeading retaliate a few mins later with the ball stroked into Goodrham’s path, but the product was a tame effort ,gathered by keeper Nelson .The game was very open with both sides out to what would appear to be avoiding a replay. With both sets of forwards dominating the affair, then 21mins a lost ball by Odelusi ( ex burnley ) on the edge of box, he recovers well to close down a shot ,but the ball was cutely pushed wide into the path of the advancing “Briggs” it was simply “good night ” as he smashed it into the roof of the net ,and to be honest if there was no net the ball would be heading for the next town!! 1-0 Dorking .The visitors a wee bit ruffled ,and were in hot pursuit of making things even ,two of their forwards Amartey & Emmanuel should renamed Neat n’ Tidy as they played with a delightful freedom causing Dorking concern .All this eagerness started to bring ref Whaley plans, to change and the whistle started to be heard a lot more than we wanted, ‘still 1st round Fa cup awaits ‘ 31mins “Briggs again showing no one had better go to sleep good thump ,great save by keeper Dickinson. 38mins visitors capt Omar Rowe found space for an effort ,but the result would have left him wanting to kick himself as Nelson smothers .A min later Emmanuel shoots ,Nelson fumbles but capt Fuller saves any blushes as he performs a great off the line clearance.42 mins and Amartey not so ‘smarty ‘as he lifts the ball ‘high n wide’. HT Dorking 1 Hayes & Yeading 0 —- Dorking .sub McShane injured Gallagher is the replacement. ‘Love me tender ‘is a song that wont be sung this half !!

2nd half and the visitors straight at it ,with Goodrham jinkin past a couple a loose challenges only to see the shot deflect for a corner no alarms from the set piece, you could feel the mood starting to change ,and after another ‘Briggs ‘shot ,possession swiftly moved into the middle of the park and with Dorking’s ‘Taylor’ caught up field ,advantage was taken and a neat rolled ball into the path of ‘Nasha’ to equalize–I turn to my right and notice the visiting hierarchy all possess a nice set, in actual fact all ‘ear to ear’ Its 1-1 and all to play for. To be fair Omar Rowe started to take the game by the scruff of the neck ,and with Dorking’s defence backing off more ,it was allowing Amartey and Emmanuel time and space to strut their stuff-very interesting. On the hour’ Taylor’ made ‘Dickinson’ pull off an assured save from a direct free kick ,’a couple puffs of the cheeks alongside me’, 66mins Amartey began a couple of’un pas de plus’ _–‘stepovers’ and created the backline to retreat off to allow enough space to fire home a fine effort on goal to put Hayes & Yeading in front 1-2,shortly afterwards the same player gets taken down, edge of the box —luckily no set piece to worry Nelson in goal. 73mins Dorking manage to switch play across the park ,a tired looking full back meets enemy No 1,as ‘Briggs ‘teases and puts the ball into the path of the gleefully awaiting’ Rutherford’ who thumps the ball in to make it 2-2.This is truly a spectacle ,both sides giving their utmost, as we enter the danger zone ,chances favouring Dorking ,but it has to hit the ‘onion net’ ,personally I felt the score about right ,but with the promise of a pro club this is up for grabs tuesday night. Good Luck
