NATIONAL LEAGUE – 25TH MARCH 2023 -3PM KICK OFF

All a little nervy down at ‘Meadowbank’ the 1978 crowd ushered into the ground for the visit of ‘Maidenhead FC’, who sit mid-table so surely for DORKING, it ‘Carpe Diem’ – (siege the day in this part of the world)

The game starts as I have seen a lot this season, the ball laid back and there she blows ,just to get yourself further up the pitch and cause un-rest. For the creative player it must be frustrating, non more so than DORKING new signing ‘THE INVISIBLE MAN ‘who had the ball passed to him on 3-4 occasions but no where to be seen– calm down fellas a little over anxious.

MAIDENHEAD forward ACQUAH good on the ball ,but started where one touch turned into two, enabling DORKING to get cover on, the visitors also had CLERIMA, alongside who was hungry but sometimes the more you try Blar Blar Blar .PRIOR for DORKING becoming a menace in the air, but the first effort on 12 min’s didn’t ring any alarms unlike the ‘Tangerine out-fit’ wore by keeper ANDRE.

One thing that was starting to tick ,was getting the ball to MUITT ,the MAIDENHEAD defender ODUTAYTO began to have a torrid afternoon ,and why cover was not put on baffled me, however that’s not forgetting that on the other flank BOWERMAN was going for it but a much closer contest with ASARE .On 25 mins MOORE has a shot deflected and corner given. Corner delivered and un-like the keepers kit it was a ‘Peach’ and met by a thumping header, PRIOR into the keepers bottom left hand post 1-0 DORKING. The rest of the half was fairly mundane, ‘should I stay or should I stay go’ kind of football. MAIDENHEAD not really offering too much and that appeared to be quite appealing to the home support !! A couple of chances were created by DORKING but not enough to put get the ‘pillows’ out and relax. H/T DORKING WANDERER’S 1 MAIDENHEAD FC 0

We got started then had a an immediate stoppage ,not by the refs whistle but by the Hooter’ of a MAIDENHEAD player’s nose injury. Thankfully all sorted. We got going again and MUITT skipped down the flank and crossed, again met by a PRIOR headed arrangement neat finish 2-0 DORKING on 48mins .

MAIDENHEAD FC then began making changes but the horse had already bolted ,and they struggled to match DORKING’S enthusiasm and on 58 mins good play by M.O.Match PRIOR found the head of TAYLOR to make it a comfortable 3-0 lead and with no goals with the feet you could say they are ‘heading ‘ for a win. DORKING made changes and one of these’ FULLER ‘ found himself off the pace as MAIDENHEAD replacement ANDRADE put on the after burner’s and as he was about to pull the trigger, the tackle arrived with the message ‘sorry I am a bit late ‘ straight forward penalty on 80 mins, put away by CHARLEE ADAMS making it 3-1 to DORKING.

A good win and deserved for Dorking, but i would be gutted about my side if I were a travelling supporter ,just to let the know it was cold on the terraces.
