NATIONAL LEAGUE -4TH MARCH 2023

Good thing’s required from the ‘DORKING’ today, as they find themselves too close for comfort at the wrong end of the table ‘.FC HALIFAX’ I’m told ,starting with a side where is only one player, over 25 also that the manager like’s to play ‘slowly slowly catchee monkey’ football, after a 5-0 win during the week, information has I think a ‘dash’ of salt in it !!

Only a minute in, and GALLAGHER nod’s over from close range, un-like my post he arrived too early. FC HALIFAX then begin to move into gear and GILMOUR break’s and collects a one-two, arrives on the edge of the box ,unable to get a clear shot on goal and it’s deflected for a corner. The visitors beginning to get in control of proceeding’s ,and the crowd matching the team ‘very subdued ‘-there get going again ,I’m sure. DORKING didn’t seem to set up a prolonged attack, mainly due to FC HALIFAX good ‘work ethic’ one of these player’s being ALLI who’s control was ‘ maybe a league higher’ the only person able to tackle him was him-self !! On 22min’s he spooned a shot bottom left hand corner and LINCOLN saved to keep DORKING level. ALLI was denied again when a free kick was deflected for a corner. On 23 min’s LINCOLN somersaulted to tip another effort over, at this precise time DORKING looked like they were on a push-bike with no chain. DORKING attacks were not very meaningful ,and spasmodic, FC HALIFAX dealing with thing’s at ease. Defenders not frightened to challenge, whatever their body position ,and on some occasion’s leaving some player’s thinking they had visited a’ contortionist’.-in love n war as they say !! DORKING did have a moment of desire and passion ,but this from the dug-out and manager MARC WHITE got a yellow ,ref RICHARDSON I think decided it was frustration-must of both been to the same lip reading classes ,because the crowd heard different. The crowd well and truly awake again and DORKING’s , CRAIG fires in a shot on 37 min’s making keeper JOHNSON to save well down at the left hand post. H/T Dorking 0 Fc Halifax 0

Changes afoot ,SEAGER & McSHANE replaced by MOORE & OTTAWAY, to be honest it could have been anyone .FC HALIFAX at it straight away 48 min’s ALLI fires a shot into the arms of LINCOLN, to be fair DORKING must feel they have been ‘ let off’ more than firework’s on Nov 5th !! The crowd of 1508,now warming and were we waiting for a FC HALIFAX goal or a real smash n grab .It soon turned into the O’ROURKE & LINCOLN show, the latter saving at least 3 goal bound shots, and DORKING’S keeper in a very attentive mood he kicked, punched and caught well. At the other end there were sign’s of belief, with the odd shot and header causing a ‘murmur’ of concern from the travelling support .This caused FC HALIFAX to make several changes in the half, each one breaking play, and some-how gave DORKING a bit more impetus, and the crowd joyous in the fact it was still 0-0.The afternoon was like ‘walking -the -plank’ thankfully the sharks replaced by gold-fish, and thing’s beginning to look better as DORKING peppered away. Time closing in as ALLI attacked down the left hand flank , and rushes the cross, as the troops were gathering to finish off the good work. The ball gets ushered out for a corner, and the resulting delivery is cleared by LINCOLN. .At the close of play it’s

DORKING WANDERER’S 0 vs FC HALIFAX TOWN 0

A point won rather than 2 lost ,looked a bit nervy and Halifax wont forget Mr Lincoln for a while .Safe journey
