FA TROPHY 11TH FEBURARY 2023 FIRTH ROUND

Second meeting of these two sides in the last week, with Aldershot winning the league fixture at a canter last week 2-0,Dorking need to have a more ‘rumbustious’ to obtain any joy from this one .Crowd of 1507 (240 travelling) were very informed and nice to hear good rather than negative comment’s. The pitch was getting an ‘airing with a fork’ by the ground staff, and let’s hope the player’s move a lot quicker- in your own time lad’s double time must be on the cards !!

Game start’s with Aldershot kicking off to an open space towards the full back. Now I personally do not know why the defenders try to win the header, let it go out and you have the ball. Dorking spent the first 4 mins engulfed in their own last third, and when they tried to go forward ,once the ball was lost Aldershot’s rather pacy Amaluzor zipped down the flank, only to be ushered into the bye line – a telling off followed. Dorking ‘workaholic’ Ryan Seager was trying to get something out of nothing, and the defender’s were treating as if they were smoking a ‘seager ‘.All a bit of a lost cause .Both were not lacking any effort, but were like’ 2 ol mate’s’ who could remember the past but never really knew what the future was .Couple of naughty clashes both of which Dorking were victims, however like ‘Elvis’ they were returned to sender. With both teams performing like the groundsman in the box, on 45 mins ,Amaluzor whips in a good low delivery ,which gets flicked on, Lincoln saves well down at the far post. The ball is only cleared to the penalty spot and Corder rams it home 1-0 Aldershot. Play is held up for treatment to the keeper as he recover’s a decent round of applause rings around the ground thank you fan’s. h/t Aldershot 1 Dorking 0

All a bit the same but Dorking putting Philpott on for Taylor, then 10 min’s later a double swap Brigg’s n Moore replace Bowerman and Cook-all like for like .Dorking still spending a lot of time in their last third, and only Gallagher showing any composure on the ball ,but still a couple of skipped heartbeat’s !! Lincoln suffers another knock, and Aldershot licking their licks as no replacement on the bench. However instead for having their cake and eating it, Dorking started to rally around and showed some desire, this not till into the last 20 min’s- and the regimental town were under bombardment. Aldershot change Anderson for Abinbola on 84 mins, maybe a tactic to slow things down, but Dorking were going to give it a go,86 mins Philpott hits the post and likewise Taylor on 87 mins .It all died down and to be honest it was not a total ‘lack luster ‘ game but that’s all both teams could ‘muster’ Aldershot 1 Dorking Wanderer’s 0

They played out to ‘Fonzy’s Happy Days and for the home fan’s it was. Thank you Aldershot for friendly and honest support for the football. May non – league continue. Good luck in the next round.
