ISUZU FA TROPHY FOURTH ROUND- 14TH JANUARY 2023

Dreary weather ,however Kidderminster being very well supported great to hear and see. After a little whisper i am informed that they enjoy playing the game with a little freedom but struggle to finish a full pint-we shall see .Dorking make a few subtle changes which you would think is quite apparent, after recent results however they do always give “competitive and honest” performances. Naivety in certain areas will eradicate as time goes on.

Off we go and early doors it is plane to see. that Kidderminster’s Foulkes must have upset the team because they left him ‘high n dry’ as Bowerman clips the ball into 6 yard box and Ottaway taps home 1-0 Dorking on 4 min’s .The ‘Harriers’ jump straight back into it Bearne forcing Lincoln to parry clear, then McGlynn putting in a cross but no one following in.11 min’s in a swirling wind f/k some 25/30 yards out .are the visitors going for a ball into the box-no way Jose ,ball rolled into the path of Brown who thumps it into the roof of the net ,every-one open mouthed-shame the keeper didn’t have the same, it might not have been 1-1.A great strike all said and done. All very open, visitors showing no fear ,so space every-where. Ball down the right flank, it finally makes its way into the box ,and slow shutting down allows Seager to turn on the back of a bus and pop Dorking 2-1 up on 17 mins.5 mins later Dorkings, Muitt fires a snap shot against the woodwork. Then on 26mins the ball is played into ‘ home alone’ territory and Foulkes unable to stop the cross ,Seager converts and its 3-1 Dorking. Kidderminster are not giving up the ghost and play some neat and tidy football but sadly its mainly individual, allowing Dorking to reshape however 3 bookings ,so 2nd half keep your eyes as open as the game there ‘may be trouble ahead’ H/T Dorking 3 Kidderminster 1

Second half and Foulkes replaced by Penny-anything for your thought’s. Still I digress, Hemmings the full-back goes on a run that opens Dorking up and shoots wide, again individual. Dorking retaliate Seager and Muitt have efforts but Palmer in goal proves competent. Yet again the visitors gather a bit of momentum and force a few corners, delightful pieces of skill by Freemantle, Brown, Bearne, McGylynn and a rasping shot from Tom Owen-Evans on 62 mins, this all making for seats getting polished as things started to tweak. At one stage it was as if Dorking were trying to inflict pain to the home support. The game moved on ,and Kidderminster need an out and out leader, changes were being made by both sides and the arrival of Morgan-Smith almost spun the game as on 83 mins Lincoln saved well from a fierce shot. Still 3-1 but no resting up,5 mins added on time ,no home supporter watching the game just listening for the sound of the referee’s whistle. Dorking attack the ball breaks and the wide open Dorking defence is open, Morgan -Smith smashes home to make it 3-2. We restart and we hear the ref blow again, and it wasn’t just the whistle !!

Final score Dorking Wanderer’s 3 Kidderminster Harriers 2

Enjoyable game with some lovely football, keep going ‘Harriers’ your nice too watch.
