ISTHMIAN FOOTBALL LEAGUE SOUTH CENTRAL DIVISION 8TH OCTOBER 2022

We all love our sport and South Park fc are now in a position, to help more so than ever before with the great addition of a ‘ 3 G ‘ Astro football pitch, so it’s time you got yourself, friends and family to Whitehall Lane and support the team’s that already exist and enjoy the facility and help it grow. Football Foundation and Surrey Council have aided the project costing a lot of pennies to say the least. Make ‘the sparks’ shine brighter.

Well, what a start to the proceedings. No excuse for poor control or an uneven bounce, come teams show us what you’ve got. The first real action of the day was a clash of heads with S,C,R forward ‘ Songolo’ and Park’s ‘Bell’ both players had ringing in their ears, a worry both teams physio’s quick to react-Bell did receive extra treatment on the side-line. I dared to mention show me what you got, and it would appear SCR’s tactic was to bang the ball into the depths of South Parks full back areas, forcing them to back track and maybe finding out if they confident in possession. This occurred due to South Park wanting to push up this made for a nice competitive game. Courtney Swaby ( ex-Park player) was more than a handful and surged forward on many occasions this made South Park quite flat at the back, and on around 28 mins the banks burst, and defender Owens got an immediate ‘RED’ for an early exchange of shirts-ref had no option, although some locals said he needed an optician. Down to 10 and its roll up the sleeves time. South Park was an outfit that tried to get on the front foot, but the free kick count was mounting however it appeared to be making the visitors a little disjointed and it tended to over playthings. Swaby did break clear and was found with a neat pass, only to see the goal bound shot have no juice and it was cleared, the follow up was well blocked. South Park more than content to go in 0-0, actually got the alarm bells ringing as McElligott fired across goal, Ford connected but watched the glancing effort go wide. Interesting halve but lacked composure. H/T 0-0

Let’s see how this one will roll, its putting ref under pressure time, after only a few minutes and I had to laugh as a scream for handball erupted and the home bench leapt. Thing was they were more unsighted than the ref – still everyone has to try. South Park did withstand a little onslaught but’ SCR ‘ didn’t seem to grasp the fact they had an extra player and a little frustration crept in. They changed Dougan for Haile, maybe hoping he could bring some sunshine, it didn’t work and although slowing down South Park were up for this and the impressive Aiden Brown will need another pair of socks as he has run one pair off already!! He twisted and turned and set up Skipper McKillop but the shot went wide. This on 65 Mins. The numbers weren’t even but the game was. Parks persistent peppering of the ball finally saw SCR sneeze as they conceded a corner, Ford whipped in a low delivery on 74 mins, and it was watched by everyone but acted on by Brown who finishes with a neat tap in. 1-0 for 10-man South Park. Certainly, rattled SCR endeavoured to pursue an equaliser and had to see a couple of efforts go agonizingly wide, then watch South Park play the time out. An enjoyable game but sometimes you can over think things, and with 10 men the home side didn’t have too.
