DORKING WANDERERS VS DARTFORD FC 30TH OCTOBER 2021

Well ,how do you introduce this one .Managers in this football do count as a player as they dash around pointing the finger ,complaining about those terrible decisions .And at times bringing a smile to the crowd’s faces, basically living their dream, all in all good stuff .Mr Marc White(dorking ) and Mr Steve King (dartford) good afternoon we await the contest- the undefeated vs comeback kids.

Dartford start the game in a controlling looking manner ,but soon got a taste of what was going to happen through the entire 90 mins-Dorking don’t lay down .In the first minutes Dorking force a couple of corner’s none causing any headaches .Dartford have shout’s for a penalty but ref Dean Skipper appears all at sea as he waves Sonupe’s claim away .indicating ball to arm rather than the opposite .Dorking playing their game of hitting the flanks ,at this stage not gaining much other than causing possible concerns later-we shall see !! Dartford were more than capable and on 10 mins Taylor upended Sonupe, Jebb delivers but no alarms.22mins Briggs was ushered away as he chased down a through ball, upsetting Dartford keeper Wilks and the ref, a needless booking followed. Then on 26mins, for the many of the Dartford supporters (crowd 1019) was the turning point of this game. Dorking keeper Nelson left the goal line to pursue the arrival of was looked as a dangerous delivery, he done a good impression of Norman Wisdom, as the ball clattered him on the right arm fell to his feet and dispatched to a none troublesome zone- boo’s all around .Dartford were appearing to struggle with the confined areas but in truth Dorking were not letting them rest ,this started to make Dartford look laboured and it started to look a little congested as they nullified each other out .Towards the end of the half Dorking did zip in a couple of crosses ,then Rutherford had a chance to cease on a piece of laziness in Dartfords back line but stood on the ball ,seemed a bit excited and composure deserted him .h-t 0-0

Things looked like they were going to get bit spicy ,Moore looked like he’d performed a ‘triple salchow’ as Dartfords Azzez appeared to challenge late ,perhaps no one told him the clocks go back tonight not this afternoon .Anyway play carries on, no ambulance required and the Dartford faithful getting a little agitated. Needless to say both sides a little guilty of trying to con the ref. The game fell into a mode of half chances and speculative passing ,causing the crowd to rise in volume both in interest and concern of possible defeat, again Dorking looking more eager in their play but were meeting a calm Dartford defending line ,and a special mention , for defender Meade and Dorkings Briggs who were having a great ding dong down the flank .Well if Dartford believed that 26mins was the turning point ,it was in fact 63mins that really counted Azzez clear with only the keeper to beat he chips the ball over Nelson, only to see the ball thud against the post, sometimes being clever doesn’t come off-however unlucky sir .Dorking breath ,then on 66mins Taylor brings the best out of Wilks ,and this one is nip n tuc. Briggs finds some space and gets in on a one on one with Bonner, no foot race and Bonner booked, free kick, cleared with ease .Dorking’s Muitt showing touches of class during the the whole of the afternoon, shines again on 75mins,gets dispatched but gets nothing mainly because ref Skipper has seen it all before. The game did start to open up and both sides going for it ,but to me Dartford attacks seemed to a bit of the same and centrally Dorking coped .Jebb looked somewhat under-used and he too looked an accomplished player. Still creeping towards the end and last chance saloon,83mins Briggs starts to chase down a knock thru gets the luck of the bounce and takes the ball into the area, seemed to take an age and has shut he’s own angles down however he whipped the ball sharply across the face of the goal ,defenders and an attacker there for one reason or two deliver the ball into its designated zone. ONE – nil Dorking. Dartford not giving up the ghost, however it wasn’t going to be their day as still chased down everything to regain possession, but met a defence that cleared the ball with interest and a bit more, to gain a victory that they wipe their brows for hard work and a couple of decisions going their way .Both teams have a touch of class ,remember its halloween when your in the mix the ingredients have to be correct or it can all blow up in your face .This one not for the connoisseur but for the football fan. FINAL SCORE —DORKING WANDERERS 1 DARTFORD FC 0
